This policy applies to the Claude Search browser extension. In short: Claude Search runs entirely in your browser, stores everything on your device, and sends your data to no one.
Everything stays on your device
Claude Search builds a search index of your Claude.ai conversations and stores it locally in your browser using IndexedDB. This index — conversation titles, message text, dates, and project identifiers — never leaves your device. It is not uploaded, synced, shared, or sold.
What the extension accesses
To build the index, Claude Search reads your conversations from Claude.ai using your own, already-logged-in session — exactly the same data the Claude.ai website already loads for you. The extension only runs on claude.ai and does not read, modify, or access any other website.
No servers of our own, no third parties
Claude Search has no backend. It does not send your conversations, your search queries, or any other data to a server operated by us or by anyone else. The only network requests it makes are to Claude.ai's own API — the same requests the site already performs — solely to read your history so it can be indexed locally.
No analytics, no tracking, no account
There is no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, telemetry, advertising, or tracking code of any kind in the extension. Claude Search requires no sign-up and collects no name, email, or other personal identifier.
Permissions, and why each is needed
- storage / unlimitedStorage — to save the local search index (IndexedDB) without a size limit.
- tabs — to open the conversation you click on in a new tab.
- access to claude.ai — to read your conversations from Claude.ai so they can be indexed locally. No other site is accessed.
Each permission is used only for the feature described above, and for nothing else.
You stay in control of your data
You can delete the local index at any time: uninstalling the extension removes its database, and you can also clear it through your browser's site-data settings. Because nothing is stored anywhere else, removing it from your device removes it completely.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will be revised. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
